Chief Executive Officer
David Behrend is our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer who has served in that capacity since March 5, 2015. Starting with his first real estate acquisition in 1997, combined with 18 years experience as a California licensed real estate agent/broker, Mr Behrend has acted as either principal or broker, or both, in approximately 250 real estate transactions, exceeding $100 million dollars in transactional value including industrial, commercial, residential and leasing transactions. Mr Behrend’s specialty is locating value-added real estate properties in the Los Angeles, CA area and executing solutions to improve the condition/rents of those properties bringing them to their highest and best use. Mr Behrend is also very adept at creative financing solutions for real estate acquisitions, including secondary and seller-carry financing. He graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce, majoring in economics and accounting and added an Honors Degree in Business Economics majoring in finance and marketing. He currently resides in Santa Monica and enjoys family time, surfing, sailing and playing Stratego.
VP and Secretary
Maurice Simone is our Secretary and VP. He has served in this capacity since March 5, 2015. Mr. Simone has 10 years of real estate transactional and analytical experience and since October 2012 has served as Transaction Coordinator with Camden Realty Group. He assists brokers and agents with property analysis, client presentations, financial modeling, marketing and zoning analysis. From 2006 to 2012, Mr. Simone was a property manager with NIC Realty where he was responsible for the on-site management of various properties, including overseeing rehabilitation, marketing and advertising, leasing, tenant qualification, and maintenance. Mr. Simone enjoys family time with his daughters and seeking out additions to his clock and timepiece collection.
VP Investor Relations
Tracy Black-Van Wier is our Vice-President of Investor Relations. Ms Black-Van Wier has 5 years experience as a National Marketing Director of a billion dollar global sales company, where she increased sales by 500% through strong management and organizational skills. Professional speaker, motivator, and relationship builder, Ms Black-Van Wier graduated with Honors from the University of Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Psychology. She currently resides in South Bay and enjoys family time, networking, yoga and running.
VP Marketing
Chille DeCastro is our Vice President of Marketing. Mr DeCastro has 10 years experience in the social media markets and he embraces and employs the power of that tool in building teams of collaborators across a variety of industries, including marketing, production and sales. Mr. DeCastro’s abilities to network and utilize Social Influencers are key assets to Hubilu Housing, a housing and tenant rental service's organic marketing strategy. Mr DeCasto resides in West Hollywood and enjoys social activism, volunteering and writing.
VP Operations & Business Development
Eric Klein is our Vice President, Operations & Business Development. He has over twenty years of investment banking, operational and management experience as well as founded, managed and operated several privately-held companies in a variety of industries.
Prior to joining Hubilu, Mr. Klein held Vice President and Managing Director positions with several corporate advisory and investment banking firms. He was involved in a variety of transactions involving Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions for lower middle-market privately-held companies operating in various industries such as manufacturing, business services, medical devices, technology and e-commerce. Prior to Mr. Klein’s investment banking career he was Director of Operations for a Los Angeles-based manufacturing company in the mid 2000’s and work in an advisory capacity with a variety of Fortune 1000 corporations.
Mr. Klein holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Electronics Engineering/Manufacturing from ITT Technical Institute of Technology in Los Angeles. He has completed additional academic course work from UCLA in Information (Cyber) Security, Business Management and Finance.
Mr. Klein is an advisory board member for several organizations; Information Systems Securities Association, Los Angeles Chapter, Cloud Security Alliance, Southern California Chapter and Concerned Capital. He has been involved in a variety of charitable organizations such as Make-A-Wish, The Los Angeles Food Bank, Los Angeles SOVA Food Pantry, Jewish Federation and other philanthropic activities. Mr. Klein enjoys travelling, avid hiker and a passion for fine automobiles.
